The Pankararu are an indigenous people from the interior of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil. They are one of the most well-known indigenous groups in the region and have a long history of struggle for land, recognition, and survival. Migration to urban areas has also shaped their modern history.
Pankararu life includes both rural village settings and urban communities. Agriculture, cultural ceremonies, and strong kinship ties remain important. Many Pankararu balance traditional practices with the demands of modern Brazilian society.
Some Pankararu maintain shamanic spiritual traditions involving rituals, sacred songs, and ancestral connections, but the majority is Catholic.
The Pankararu have needs related to land rights, social inclusion, and health.
Pray that Christians who have contact with and access to this tribe may be a light in their lives, awakening a desire to know more.
Pray for the Truth to be revealed and for the walls of religion to be broken.
Pray that they will not be satisfied with what they have received spiritually so far, and that they will be inclined to listen to the Holy Spirit.
